Many rumors are floating around the internet regarding unique backlink sources. One of those rumors is with an ISSUU publication. We decided to test out an ISSUU brochure for Skylift Garage Doors.
What is Issuu?
Issuu.com is a digital publishing platform that allows individuals and organizations to create, publish, and share digital content such as magazines, brochures, catalogs, and other documents in an interactive format. It enables users to upload PDFs, which are then converted into flipbooks that can be easily browsed on desktop and mobile devices. Issuu also provides tools for embedding publications on websites, sharing them on social media, and analyzing performance metrics for engagement. It is widely used by publishers, marketers, and businesses for distributing content and reaching a broader audience.
Most notably, the published document is animated to reflect that of a physical brochure or booklet with an iconic, although somewhat outdated, page-flipping animation.
Skylift Garage Doors Brochure
Here’s the one we made for Skylift Garage Doors. The content is pulled from their company website.
Recently, Issuu changed their free account to no longer provide embed code, so you’ll have to launch their website through the link below to see the OG page flip animation in action. I’ve posted a screenshot in case you can’t be bothered with it.
Take a look at that animation! The actual graphic of the next page is peeking out, the shadow is gorgeous and the curve of the turning page is quite organic and natural. That being said, these types of animates went out of style a good 20+ years ago, which means this might come back in style soon. Kidding here.
Honestly though, removing the embed feature from the free account seems like a huge mistake – there’s absolutely no way I’d pay $21 / month for this. It’s such a niche market already, seems like a poor business decision to put a paywall up.
Articles from the Publication
A feature of Issuu is that you can automatically generate ‘articles’ from your publication. Supposedly these articles are shared on the issue platform like this:

The Results
We’ve published an article from the booklet and the publication itself on Oct 29. Analtyics currently show (as of Dec 11, 2024), zero engagement. We reviewed the publication settings, and it all appears to be live. We’ll continue checking in on this publication over the next 6 months. We’ll see if anything changes, but at the moment the answer to is an Issuu publication a good source of backlinks? It’s a resounding NO.
